چکیده

Pollution of soils with poiycyciic aromatic andheteroaromatic compounds (PACS) from various uses of oil products has impontant economic and toxicological implications for the polluted areas. The larger PACS are quite refractory to microbial degradation. Due to the ability of the fimgal ligninolytic enzyme systems to also degrade a range of environmental pollutants, e.g. PACS,white rot fimgihave been studies in laboratory experiments as candidates for bioremediation purposes. The present communication describes effects of white rot fhngus Pleurotus ostreatus on polycyclic aromatic compounds (PACS) degradation in a field scale experiment with authentic polluted soils from a former shipyard or an old asphalt and tar factory. Both soils were setup in triplicate in concrete cylinders (height: 50 cm, diameter: 60 cm) for 3 treatments: Control, mixed with autoclave sawdust medium, or mixed with P. ostreatus refuse from commercial production of fiwit bodies, Samples taken after O, 1,2,5,9, 16,26, and 46 weeks were analysed for P. ostreaws activity as laccase activity, phenanthreneand pyrene-degrading bacteria were enumerated, and 21 different PACS were quantified by GC-MS. In the Coal tar soil, P. ostreatus refuse enhanced PACS degradation. Laccase activity was significantly higher than in the Shipyard soil, and the numbers of pyrene-degrading bacteria were higher. P, ostreatus refuse has a potential for bioremediation purposes, © 2002 WIT Press, Ashurst Lodge, Southampton, SO40 7AA, UK. All rights reserved. Bioremediation of soil contaminated crude oil by Agaricomycetes

BACKGROUND One of the most important environmental problems is the decontamination of petroleum hydrocarbons polluted soil, particularly in the oil-rich country. Bioremediation is the most effective way to remove these pollutants in the soil. Spent mushroom compost has great ability to decompose lignin-like pollution. The purpose of this study was the bioremediation of soil contaminated with cr...

Some Investigation on Bioremediation of PahsContaminated Soil in Iran Tar Refinery

The main purpose of this research is studying the possibility of bioremediation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) contaminated soils in Iran’s tar refinery area located in Isfahan. For many years a great quantity of tar produced by neighboring metallurgical plant has been stored in lagoons as natural reservoirs, causing the contamination of soil in this area. Microorganisms capable of ...

Mycoremediation of Dichlorvos Pesticide Contaminated Soil by Pleurotus pulmonarius (Fries) Quelet

The extensive use of pesticides leads to accumulation of a huge amount of residues in the environment. As such, the present study investigates the potentiality of Pleurotus pulmonarius to bioremediate dichlorvos pesticides (2,2-dichlorovinyldimethylphosphate) in contaminated soil. DDVP-polluted soils have been contaminated in five concentrations (5% v/w, 10% v/w, 15% v/w, 20% v/w, and 25% v/w),...

Uses of mushrooms in bioremediation: A review

One of the major environmental problems facing the world today is the contamination of soil, water and air by toxic chemicals as a result of industrialization and extensive use of pesticides in agriculture. Incineration is currently the most effective and common remediation practice but is costly in terms of money and energy used. A rapid cost effective and ecologically responsible method of cl...
